Lake Mburo National Park covers a total area of 260 square kilometres, which was gazetted in 1983 in Nyabushozi County, Kirihura district. It is made up of several wildlife species that include over 69 mammal species and 332 bird species.

Some of the wildlife usually encountered are the species that are situated around the forest, and some of these include the African grey parrot, white headed barbet, chested lapwings, and many others. Nature walks in the Rubanga forest take you through also encounter of the biodiversity of the forest.
Walking around the Rubanga forest usually takes about 2 to 3 hours a day.

This is another amazing trail in the park that you can engage in for walking safaris, which takes you to the most stunning views of the park. It offers the perfect views of the park during the walk.

This trail takes you to the waterfront of lake Mburo that is situated with in the park which offers the opportunity to encounter several wildlife around the lake. in the walk to this trail , it takes to encounter the savannah and wetland eco system of the park which makes the walk more diverse.
Nature walks on the lake shores of Lake Mburo take you through the encounter of several wildlife species like hippos , crocodiles ,and several bird species.

Where do nature walks start from in Lake Mburo National Park?
As you prepare for the nature walks in the Lake Mburo National Park, the walk starts from Rwonyo park headquarters, where you meet the ranger guides who take you through the different trails of the park. It is a primary starting point of the park, which is situated near the Lake Mburo lodge, which is the main administrative centre of the park.

Nature walks can be done throughout the day. The best time of the day to engage in the activity is during the early morning hours, that is 0630 to 0900hours and in the evening at around 1700 hours to 1900 hours.

What is the best time to visit Lake Mburo National Park for a Nature Walk?
Lake Mburo National Park is available all year round. Dry season is the best time of the year to engage in nature walks during June to September and December to February where the park is more dry and clear for easy viewing of the wildlife.
In the rainy season, you can also engage in nature walks but you need to plan accordingly so since the park is water logged usually.
